Biloxi officially the City of Biloxi, is a city in Harrison County, Mississippi. The 2010 United States Census recorded the population as 44,054. Along with the adjoining city of Gulfport, Biloxi is a county seat of Harrison County. Biloxi is located at 30°24′43″N 88°55′40″W (30.412029, −88.927829) and has an elevation of 20 feet (6.1 m). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 46.5 sq mi (120.5 km2), of which 38.0 sq mi (98.5 km2) is land and 8.5 sq mi (22 km2) (18.27%) is water. Biloxi has a subtropical climate that is heavily influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Winter days are mild and wet. Snow is extremely rare in Biloxi. Summers are hot and humid, bearing the brunt of tropical storms during the late summer to fall. Biloxi's record low of 10°F (-12.2°C) was recorded on January 24, 1963, and the record high of 104°F (40°C) was recorded on August 29, 2000. Biloxi is served by the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in Gulfport, Mississippi.

1. Beau Rivage
Beau Rivage is a waterfront casino resort in Biloxi, Mississippi, USA. It is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International. Beau Rivage was rebuilt and re-opened in 2006, a year after Hurricane Katrina. The Beau Rivage hotel is the tallest building in Mississippi. The term 'Beau Rivage' is French for 'beautiful shore'. The Beau Rivage, with 1,740 rooms, opened in March 1999. At that time of its opening, it was the largest hotel/casino in the United States outside of Nevada. The casino was located on a series of floating barges as required by local law confining all casinos to mobile marine vessels at the time of the resort's construction. The hotel, restaurants, parking garage, and associated facilities were constructed on land. The height of the 28-floor hotel-casino is 346 ft (105 m). The name of Beau Rivage was originally meant for the Bellagio casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip, however, developer Steve Wynn of Mirage Resorts changed Beau Rivage into Bellagio, and reserved this name for his new waterfront casino in Biloxi. 2. Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel and Spa
Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel and Spa is the name of a gambling establishment in Biloxi, Mississippi. It is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment. This facility replaces the former Grand Casino Biloxi, which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. At the time, the casino offered a 106,000-square-foot (9,800 m2) casino, two hotels with 975 rooms, and a 42,000-square-foot (3,900 m2) convention center. Currently, the casino features 800 slot machines and 35 table games.



3. Deer Island
Deer Island is an island off the coast of Biloxi, Mississippi that was once part of the mainland and is not a barrier island {ref Deer Island, A geological and Historical Study, DEQ, State of MS}. It is the closest island to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and consists of approximately 400 acres (1.6 km2). For several years, local casinos tried to develop the island. However, the majority of the island was acquired by the State of Mississippi on May 24, 2002, which intends to preserve its current undeveloped state.

5. The Beauvoir
The Beauvoir estate is notable as the historic post-war home (1876-1889) of the former Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Its construction was begun in 1848 at Biloxi, Mississippi. It was purchased in 1873 by the planter Samuel Dorsey and his wife Sarah Dorsey. After her husband's death in 1875, the widow Sarah Ellis Dorsey learned of Jefferson Davis' difficulties. She invited him to the plantation and offered him a cottage near the main house, where he could live and work at his memoirs. He ended up living there the rest of his life. The house and plantation have been designated as a National Historic Landmark. Beauvoir was the location of the retirement home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis from 1876 to 1889. The compound consisted of approximately 608 acres (2.46 km2) when Davis lived there (today, the site is approximately 52 acres (210,000 m2) in size). Beauvoir is located in Biloxi, Mississippi across US Highway 90 from Biloxi Beach. The name "Beauvoir" means "beautiful to view".



6. The President Casino Broadwater Resort
The President Casino Broadwater Resort was a combined casino and resort that was located in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was a fixture on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 60 years. Originally known as the Broadwater Beach Hotel and Broadwater Beach Resort, it opened in 1939 as a venue for the illegal but tacitly approved gambling that was flourishing along the coast. In the late 1950s and 1960s, the gambling stopped and the facility was renovated and re-purposed as a resort destination with a state-of-the-art marina and other amenities. In its heyday the Broadwater Beach Resort hosted movie stars, leading politicians, and top business figures as well as people on vacation. It became the Gulf Coast's flagship resort and its colorfully lit front sign was iconic.



7. The Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA)
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) opened in 1991 in historic Ocean Springs, Mississippi. WAMA is dedicated to the celebration of the works of Walter Inglis Anderson (1903–1965), American master, whose depictions of the plants, animals, and people of the Gulf Coast have placed him among the forefront of American painters of the Twentieth Century; and to his brothers, Peter Anderson (1901–1984), master potter and founder of Shearwater Pottery; and James McConnell Anderson (1907–1998), noted painter and ceramist.

8. Casino Magic Biloxi Casino & Hotel
Casino Magic Biloxi Casino & Hotel was a permanently moored casino barge in Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The property had a 55,000-square-foot (5,100 m2) casino, with an adjoining 378-room hotel, located on 10.6 acres (4.3 ha) of land. It has been closed since 2005, when it was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina, and is now owned by Harrah's Entertainment. Casino Magic and its neighbors, the Isle of Capri Biloxi and Grand Casino Biloxi made up a district known as "Casino Row".

9. The Pleasant Reed House
The Pleasant Reed House was a sidehall shotgun house in Biloxi, Mississippi on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by Pleasant Reed (1854–1932), a former slave on a Mississippi farm who moved with his family to coastal Biloxi after the American Civil War. Reed, as a freedman, worked as a laborer and carpenter and earned the money to build his own house for his rapidly growing family. The house was saved by the Biloxi chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and added to the National Register in 1979. In 2003, the House was moved to the new Frank Gehry-designed campus of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum Of Art, where it was restored and opened to the public for tours. 




10. The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at 870 West Howard Avenue in Biloxi, Mississippi, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Biloxi. It was designed by Theodore Brune and built by J.F. Barnes & Company of Greenville, Mississippi in 1902. The cathedral was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Brune was a German-American architect who designed several churches on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. The Gothic architecture design for the Blessed Virgin Mother Catholic Church on West Howard Avenue was constructed after the original church was destroyed by the Great Biloxi Fire of November 1900 on the same site. Stained glass windows were donated to the church by Julia Dulion Lopez (1857-1918) in memory of her late husband in early 1906. The windows were built by Reis and Reis of Munich, Germany and installed by Frederick Thornley of New York.
