10 Things To Do When We Visiting West Palm Beach, Florida

There are many interesting thing to do when you visiting Palm Beach, Florida. Exquisite shops, fine dining, Broadway-quality shows, a world-renowned art museum and much more. This is what awaits the fortunate visitor to West Palm Beach. And there are more than 15 tourist attraction that we can visited, such as; Located along Florida’s famed "Gold Coast," West Palm Beach offers visitors year-round excitement within easy reach of smooth-sand beaches and some of the nation’s most enticing waterways. Of special note are the Norton Museum of Art, which offers incredible sculpture and other masterworks, the Palm Beach Zoo, show-stopping events at the downtown Kravis Center of the Performing Arts and, if you time your visit just right, SunFest – Florida’s largest waterfront music festival, generally held in late April and early May. West Palm Beach is a city in and the county seat of Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 101,043 at the 2010 census. It is the oldest large municipality in the South Florida metropolitan area, having been incorporated as a city two years before Miami. According to the United States Census Bureau, this city has a total area of 58.2 square miles (151 km2). 55.1 square miles (143 km2) of it is land and 3.1 square miles (8.0 km2) of it (5.26%) is water. Due to vast areas of swampland immediately to the west of the city's downtown, growth occurred to the north and south in a linear fashion. Until the 1960s, the city was no more than several blocks wide but over 100 blocks in length. Large scale development finally occurred to the west of the city with improved access and drainage in the 1960s. However, the city boundaries were not expanded much with the exception of the "Water Catchment Area", an uninhabited area in the northwest part of the city that serves as a reservoir for the city drinking.

1. The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium
The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North, West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. It houses interactive science exhibits and includes an aquarium and planetarium. The center recently underwent a $5M expansion which included the addition of an 8,000 gallon Aquariums of the Atlantic display as well as an interactive Science on a Sphere exhibit. There are fourteen aquariums in the room showing the flow of water from the Deep Ocean to the Coral Reef to the Shorelines to the Everglades canals.




2. Flagler Museum
Flagler Museum, also known as Whitehall, is a 55-room mansion open to the public in Palm Beach, Florida in the United States. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When it was completed in 1902, Whitehall was hailed by the New York Herald as "more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world." It was designed in the Beaux Arts style; meant to rival the extravagant mansions in Newport, Rhode Island. Distinct from these northern homes, Whitehall had no outbuildings or subsidiary structures. Nor had it elaborately planned or cultivated gardens. Plants, flowers, trees and shrubs were allowed to grow unaided. The mansion is built around a large open-air central courtyard and is modeled after palaces in Spain and Italy. Three stories tall with several wings, the mansion has fifty-five fully restored rooms furnished with period pieces. These rooms are large with marble floors, walls and columns, murals on the ceilings, and heavy gilding. 



3. The Palm Beach County Convention Center
The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a multi-purpose facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. The facility opened its doors in January 2004 and hosts many high profile consumer shows and is the premier convention center of Palm Beach County, Fl. Its operations by are managed by Global Spectrum and Ovations Food Service. This 19-acre (77,000 m2) site is located about three miles (5 km) from Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA), serviced by more than 16 airlines providing more than 200 daily flights through all major hubs. With Interstate 95 less than one mile (1.6 km) away, the Florida Turnpike moments west, and the beaches of Palm Beach a few miles east, the central location of the Palm Beach County Convention Center is both efficient and appealing. With the adjacent neighbors of CityPlace, (a $600 million entertainment complex of designer shops, select restaurants and clubs) and the nationally acclaimed Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, a perfect balance of culture, culinary arts and charm creates an unusual and classic convention or trade show experience. 

4. Cruzan Amphitheatre
Cruzan Amphitheatre is a 19,000-seat open-air music venue in West Palm Beach, Florida. The facility, owned by the South Florida Fairgrounds, is a modern amphitheatre used primarily for concerts and other performances. The loading dock and backstage area is sometimes used for concerts that are general admission standing room only (mostly heavy metal concerts), while the amphitheater stage is used as the backstage area in these situations. The venue opened on April 26, 1996. Since opening, the venue has gone through numerous name changes. It was initially named Coral Sky Amphitheatre because the seats face into the west, often in view of a colorful sunset. After many years becoming familiar with that name, people still use that name despite the various sponsorships and name changes since then. The first sponsor was Mars Music (making the venue Mars Music Amphitheatre on January 6, 2000) , but when Mars filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002, the Mars Music name was removed in August 2002 and the venue reverted to its previous name until 2003. After a short return to the Coral Sky name, it changed again when Sound Advice became the new sponsor, and was renamed Sound Advice Amphitheatre on June 1, 2003. In early 2008, the venue was renamed again following a new sponsorship agreement with Cruzan Rum, becoming the Cruzan Amphiteatre on February 1, 2008.



5. CityPlace (West Palm Beach)
CityPlace (West Palm Beach) is an upscale lifestyle center in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida along South Rosemary Avenue. Besides shops and restaurants, the center also includes rental apartments, condos, and offices. The property, which constitutes several city blocks, is chiefly credited for West Palm's urban renaissance. The area where CityPlace stands was formerly a poverty-stricken and high crime area. Macy's, Muvico Parisian 20 and IMAX, LA Fitness and Publix are the center's anchors. Hotspots include Panera Bread, Cheesecake Factory, Brio Tuscan Grille, Sloan's Ice Cream, and Starbucks. In December 2013, Revolutions, a bowling alley, opened a location in CityPlace. Apart from shopping, dining, and cinema, the center is now at the forefront of West Palm Beach's entertainment complementing establishments located on nearby Clematis Street. The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School of the Arts are located within walking distance to CityPlace, as is the Palm Beach County Convention Center. An early-century trolleybus circles downtown between CityPlace and Clematis. 



6. Lion Country Safari
Lion Country Safari is a drive-through safari park located in Loxahatchee (near West Palm Beach), in Palm Beach County, Florida. Founded in 1967, it claims to be the first 'cageless zoo' in the United States. In 2009, USA Travel Guide named Lion Country the 3rd best zoo in the nation. A unique aspect of Lion Country Safari is the chimpanzee exhibit. The chimps live on an island system where they move to a different island every day, replicating their natural nomadic lifestyle. The chimps live in complex social groups, as they would in the wild. Because of this, Lion Country Safari has been useful to those interested in behavioral studies of chimps. As of 2012, chimpanzees living at Lion Country Safari include "Little Mama," one of the oldest chimpanzees in captivity, born in 1938. Lion Country Safari also serves as a retirement facility for chimpanzees who were once used in research laboratories and entertainment. After visitors have driven through the park, they can visit Safari World, a theme park with some zoo exhibits, and amusement park fare such as a Ferris wheel, a petting zoo, a small water park, and a giraffe-feeding exhibit. Food is available at Lion Country Safari's main restaurant.



7. The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is a performing arts center in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida. It is operated by a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, and with a growing national and international reputation, is one of the premier performing arts centers in the Southeast. The Kravis Center opened fully funded in 1992 and is a success story that provides communities worldwide with an example of a thriving performing arts center and a major community and economic catalyst. Set on 10.6 acres of property at the highest point in the city, the Kravis Center includes four venues - the 2,195-seat Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. Concert Hall, the flexible 289-seat Rinker Playhouse - a black box theater - the 170-seat Helen K. Persson Hall and the outdoor Michael and Andrew Gosman Amphitheatre with a capacity for 1,400 guests. Additionally, the Kravis Center's facilities include the Cohen Pavilion, which houses the Weiner Banquet Center including the Gimelstob Ballroom, The Elmore Family Business Center for the Arts and The Picower Foundation Arts Education Center, which includes Persson Hall and The Khoury Family Dance Rehearsal Hall. The Center also has a five-level parking garage. The number of events hosted annually has grown to more than 1,400, with attendance of more than 500,000 guests each year. In addition to the Center presenting acclaimed artists from every discipline, regionally-based arts organizations present their seasons and call the Kravis Center their home including Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Opera, and Palm Beach Pops. Established as a leading force in the social fabric of the community, its many outreach programs are as broad and varied as the community itself. To date, the Center has opened the door to the performing arts for more than one million school children as well as thousands of economically-disadvantaged senior citizens, minorities and community groups.



8. The Norton Museum of Art
The Norton Museum of Art is an art museum located in West Palm Beach, Florida. Its collection includes over 7,000 works, with a concentration in European, American, and Chinese art as well as in contemporary art and photography. In 2003, it overtook the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, in Sarasota, as the largest museum in Florida. The ground-level galleries showcase contemporary American art. The top floor is given over to European art through 1870. In 2013, the museum unveiled a new master plan designed by the British architect Norman Foster that would nearly double its gallery space and add an education center, auditorium and restaurant. 



9. The South Florida Fair
The South Florida Fair is an annual fair held in West Palm Beach, Florida, every January or February. The fairgrounds site occupies 100 acres (0.40 km2; 0.16 sq mi) and is located on the site of the former Palm Beach Speedway at the intersection of Southern Boulevard (US 98/SR 80) and Fairground Road. It is set up to make it adjacent to the Cruzan Amphitheatre. Nearly 500,000 people attended the South Florida Fair each year. The fair features a midway of rides, games, and concessions, themed exhibition halls, an agricultural and livestock agriplex, and smaller exhibition areas. There is also Yesteryear Village, a history park on the northeastern corner of the property.



10. The Palm Beach Zoo
The Palm Beach Zoo is a non-profit zoological organization located at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach. The Zoo houses over 1,400 animals within 23-acres of lush tropical habitat. The Palm Beach Zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo is open from 9-5 daily with the last admission at 4:15. Palm Beach Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. The Palm Beach Zoo is currently in development of Tiger Valley Breeding and Conservation Center, an expansion of the current Malayan tiger exhibit. The expansion will increase the square footage of the current 10,000 square foot tiger exhibit, as well as double the size of the tiger night house. The groundbreaking for the exhibit will occur in 2014.
